"I went to Costa Rica over spring break and had this book along with the old Lonely Planet. Had I read this book before going I wouldn't have even taken it. It doesn't have very many cheap options. It seems like it's more useful for people looking for high end hotels and have plenty of money to spend. The book does have plenty of nice pictures, but who needs that when you're IN costa rica."

- Fodor's publishes terrific, fact and suggestion-filled travel books. I've used them for years and have never been disappointed. The Costa Rica book is no exception.

- If you want a pretty picture book for your trip to Costa Rica, then this is the one. If you want a book that does not offer much useful detail or many helpful travel tips, then this is the book for you. I have been to Costa Rica numerous times. I bought this book because I have not been in a few years and thought it would be helpful to have. Well, it wasn't. I could write a better or at least more useful travel book in a few days. Given that Fodor's does a great job with many of their European books, I was really surprised at how near worthless this book is. Do not purchase this book if you are looking for a Costa Rican travel guide. If all you want is a general overview of the country, then this book will work.
Poorly written, little useful detail. - This book has been a tremendous help with planning our first trip to Costa Rica. There is such great detail, tips and ideas. It’s a definite must have for your trip to CR.
