• Not every artist should be a coloring book artist. Most of the pictures are a collection of pen and ink artwork with detail so small there is nothing that can be done with it. The paper is nothing more than computer paper and the cover is deceptive as you can't produce realistic flowers. The price prohibits returning it so if you buy it you are stuck with it. It goes into my giveaway and donate pile untouched.

• Great book. Right at my kids level- 13. Would still be fine for 10 or 11 I’m sure. Really improved his focus at the plate and eliminated some of those nagging thoughts. And certainly some good life lessons to boot Would highly recommend for anyone. -baseball or not.

• A quick bit of background...
  
  I am a long time space exploration aficionado, have many books mostly to do with manned spaceflight in the 1960's. I have several other recent comparable large hard cover books featuring the manned space program including Moonshots, Moonfire, Full Moon and Apollo VII-XVII.
  
  The book....
  
  Starting with how this book is packaged - it literally comes (from anyway) triple boxed. You open the book, there's a slightly smaller book that is the shipping box for the book. You open that box, the book is inside a shrink-wrapped illustrated carrying case style box complete with handle typical for the largest, most lavish Taschen books. Carefully open the carrying case and this huge 15lb book inside is also shrink-wrapped. Everything graphically about this book is over-the-top. The dust cover and paper stock is thick semi-gloss paper, almost card stock. The dust cover and the chapter break photos have silver ink printing to accentuate the 4 color images. The actual book cover is an embossed photo of Buzz Aldrin's boot print on the lunar surface. The text is fairly large and easy to read. Binding, printing and overall quality of the photos and other images included is outstanding. Perhaps fortunately due to practicality issues, there's no fold-out spreads. This is *not* a book you can cradle in your lap and read, it's just too big and heavy.
  
  From a content standpoint, this book gives a very broad overview of American space program in a mostly chronological way. Informatively, this is the kind of book tailored more towards the casual space exploration fan. For the die-hard space enthusiast, almost all the photographs are fairly common, including iconic photos such as Ed White's spacewalk to the Apollo 11 moonwalk images to classic shuttle/spacewalk, ISS and of course, beautiful Hubble deep space photographs. There's also a few illustrations of hardware, missions, etc. The big draw here is the sheer size (most are full page images) and quality of the images included. IMO, I think content-wise, for so-called coffee table sized photo books, Moonshots and (the original full size HC) Full Moon books are a bit better and go a little more in depth but that is in large part because those book focus on the Apollo program itself. But big as those books are, they are physically dwarfed by "The NASA Archives."
  
  One thing I would caution potential buyers - be very careful when putting the book back in it's case and closing the top. It's very easy to catch the edge of and accidentally damaging the top of the dust cover.
• Was really thrilled to find this book was double boxed and came in a protective sleeve, arrived in perfect condition. The book itself is massive and is of quality construction. All the photographs are incredible. Can’t wait to sit down and read every page.
• Like the other reviewers, I have been a space buff since watching Alan Shepard's Freedom 7 flight (I was very upset at the time that the replays of the flight preempted my watching the latest Lone Ranger and Superman episodes). I have several large, hardcover books (such as Moonfire, also by Taschen), but nothing like this! The book is HEAVY-must weigh 10-15 lbs. and comes in a box with a carrying handle. I won't go into more details about opening or the description of the book as another reviewers have more ably done that. Suffice to say, the book is magnificent-worth the cost. For any serious fan of the space program, you can't go wrong having this book in your collection.
• I have looked at many books of photographs from Apollo. The pictures in this book are spectacular.
• This book is a work of art. I cannot get myself to open it - the package is so well put together. Shipped meticulously to prevent damage during shipping. The book comes in a beautiful carrying case. Keeping it in the shipping box for now and debating whether to purchase one that I will actually open and enjoy. AMAZING !!!

• “The NASA Archive” is an extraordinary object---I almost hesitate saying “book.” A monument to NASA (literally and figuratively it weighs nearly 15 pounds; fortunately, it comes in a carrying case equipped with a handle) celebrating the agency’s sixtieth year of existence and the fiftieth anniversary of its greatest achievement---the landing of human on the moon---”The NASA Archive” is eminently worthy of its subject.
  
  In spite of what its title implies, the book goes beyond NASA in telling its story in words and pictures. It gets a running start by backing up decades before the agency’s existence and begins with a tip of the hat to Jules Verne and the text of an article from a 1929 issue of the science fiction magazine, “Science Wonder Stories.” There are five spectacular pages of artwork by Chesley Bonestell and Rolf Klep from the seminal “Collier’s” magazine spaceflight series of the mid-fifties. We have the dialog between Chuck Yeager and Muroc Tower during his epochal faster-than-sound flight. Likewise, the images draw from many sources other than NASA itself, thereby providing a much more complete and well-rounded impression not only of the history of NASA but of its effects on both technology and culture. I was pleased to see that the author drew upon the resources of the NASA Fine Arts Program for some of the imagery for the book, which add a specially emotional and human touch to the experience.
  
  All of the photos and art in the book, I might add, are reproduced with a definition that is eye-dazzling in its detail and brilliance.
  
  The text is primarily by editor Piers Bizony---who created the no less spectacular ode to “2001 A Space Odyssey---with essays by Dr. Roger Launius, who had been chief historian at NASA for more than a decade, and Andrew Chaikin, author of the recent history of the Apollo lunar landing program, “A Man On the Moon,” and all did the splendid job one would have expected from these authors.
  
  I cannot recommend this book more highly. It is an extraordinary achievement in itself, memorializing one of the supreme human and technological achievements of the past century.

""Monster Hunter International" isn't great literature, nor does it pretend to be, but it is a barrel (as in gun barrel) of fun where the reader has no remorse seeing the bad guys (i.e. monsters of all varieties) get wasted with virtually every weapon in modern and ancient arsenals. The fun starts where the central character and narrator gets sucked into the monster hunting business when he is forced to kill his boss who, appropriately, had been turned into a werewolf. If the attraction of seeing the fantasy of hideously eliminating a bad boss isn't enough for the reader, then the author offers a full tour of modern armaments and their often more efficient way of taking out various mythical demonic scourges of mankind. For example, although silver bullets still work for werewolves, 81mm mortars and .50-caliber M2 Browning machine guns of the National Guard prove to be an easier and quicker way to kill off the worst vampires than the old stake in the heart. Moreover, some of the worst critters in other mythology are among the good guys in this and some of the good critters are considerably less glamorous than in other stories. One also finds out what it's like to have a vampire, a real vampire, as a prospective mother-in-law. Author Larry Correia hasn't created a great novel, but he sure knows how to make fiction fun."

• My husband has been telling me for months to start this saga. He went through the audiobooks in a blink of an eye.
  
  I can see why he enjoyed it so much. I did too. After all, what's not to like about a fantasy involving a great evil, monster killing, and a hero stopping an Apocalypse? It's usually, the best recipe for a great adventure IMO.
  
  For a gun aficionado, this series is heaven. Owen is a sharp shooter and he knows every gun that is cool out there (me I have no idea about any of that). His dad who was in the military, taught him early on to defend himself in hand to hand combat and to become familiar with guns. Owen, now an accountant, enjoys his guns as a hobby and tries to lead a pretty dull life. This is until his boss becomes a werewolf and wants to eat him.
  
  After surviving the attack, Owen finds himself getting a new job offer. He could return to his (boring) job or he can train and become part of the secret group called Monter Hunter International who takes care of the bad monsters who are hiding in plain sight. Yes, vampires, werewolves, gargoyles do exist and someone has to take them out. The Government knows about their existence but they don't want the public to panic.
  
  Suddenly, Owen's life gets very complicated. He has a very lucrative but extremely dangerous new job.
  
  Monster Hunter International is a cool fantasy. It has a set of very unique characters.
  In regards to the romance, I wasn't sure about Julie's character, Owen's love interest, but she grew on me. By the end, I couldn't see him with anyone else.

• I was really surprised at the quality of the writing, having never heard of the author before. I picked up the novels all at once since they were only available in paperback and cheap. I really enjoyed not only the story line and the characters, but really like the little side development and interactions between the characters which absolutely don't have to be included, adding nothing to the story except to flesh out the current situation or location. But, without seeming to be contrived at all, just a natural happening for the characters.
  Now, I'm huge John Ringo fan, purchased and read pretty much everything he's ever published. This reminds me a bit of that, at least in how the story develops and the action takes place. But in a 'nice", "clean" way. Unlike Ringo's 'Kildar' series, this has some of the same kind of action - except with monsters, not terrorists, and no S&M or really any kind of overt sexual stuff. I'd be ok with this in a middle school library.

  How can you argue with a description like that?
  
  Yes, chapter one involves a brawl between the above mentioned Owen Pitt, and his boss, who has become a monster of a completely different stripe than he had been. Let's just say that I would have considered throwing him out a window before he became a large furry sociopath.
  
  Yup. Pitt has to go toe-to-toe with a freaking werewolf. And he has no silver.
  
  After Pitt hands in his resignation the hard way, he has officially fallen down the rabbit hole. Monsters are real -- all of them. Pick a B-Movie horror film or a Lovecraftian monster. There are only two forces that deal with the legion of nightmares (that we see in this book). One is the Monster Control Bureau (MCB), a government bureaucracy that looks like it's run by either the Keystone cops, or whatever random thugs can be brought in off the street (though it'll turn out that they aren't random). The other group is Monster Hunter, a private organization dedicated to collecting bounties as they exterminate the world's nastier pests -- including vampires, giant spiders, and a few creatures from the black lagoon.
  
  And MHI offers Owen Pitt a job. The perks are good -- play with weapons, hang out with the stunning woman who recruited him, and the paychecks are insane -- and, well, why not?
  
  Unfortunately for Pitt, his first day on the job is going to get messy. He soon finds himself being haunted by an old Jewish ghost, is getting visions of an ancient entity called "the Cursed One"who just arrived on US soil, is hip deep in ghouls, vampires, flying killer gargoyles that bleed magma, and did we mention that the Cursed One might be about to end the world?
  
  MHI has a wonderfully colorful cast of characters. From a former Vegas stripper who is more vicious and bloodthirsty than the lot of them, to Julie, a member of MHI's founding family, who is also a sniper... and her physical description in the book reminds me a lot of Bayonetta, but we won't go there.
  
  There is a wonderfully broad collection of folks here, from the high school chemistry teacher who had to blow up his school filled with spiders, to the poor guy who had to kill his zombiefied students, to the explosive-happy Q-variant, to Earl Harbinger -- an old member of MHI's founding family with an interesting history. The characters are likable, the dialogue engaging, and I don't think I came across a single flaw in the execution.
  
  And yes, this book was awesome from start to finish. It didn't really slow down. Despite the constant description of these books as "gun porn," I have yet to be bogged down by a single page on guns. Most of the time, the weapon details are critical to the plot, considering what fresh new horrors they run into all the time. The chapters that amount to a large training montage are detailed and interesting, and establish the characters better than heading straight into the action.
  
  Then the shooting started, and didn't really stop for another three hundred pages or so.
  
  And just remember vampires only sparkle when they're on fire.

• This is an absolutely fantastic cookbook. You don't even have to be vegan to enjoy the recipes. I bought it because we were vacationing with a couple in Jamaica, and one of them is a very strict vegan. We were incredibly impressed with the variety of recipes--and how easy it was to obtain the ingredients. A chef friend saw it, and he's ordered it for himself.
• This is such a wonderful cookbook, whether you're vegan or not. I'm vegetarian and my boyfriend is a devoted carnivore, but we've both loved every recipe we've tried so far - about a half-dozen or so. This is a far better success rate than we've had with any other cookbook, let alone a veg cookbook.
  
  I would recommend this book to anyone, but especially someone trying to eat healthier or go veg. I was skeptical about the Sweet Potato and Black Bean Quesadillas, but they're so delicious - and I don't even like sweet potatoes. And I didn't even miss the cheese. Other yummy recipes are the Plantain Soup, Costa Rican Beans and Rice, Vietnamese-Style Cellophane Noodles with Mixed Vegetables, and Thai Pineapple Fried Rice.
  
  For the most part, the ingredients are pretty easy to find. Some of the seasonings can be more challenging, though. For example, I have yet to locate any "Chinese chili paste," but it's pretty easy to figure out appropriate substitutions (chili sauce, red pepper flakes, etc). And for those who don't keep peanut oil on hand, vegetable oil with a bit of peanut butter works just fine.
• I really liked how unusual and different the recipes in this cookbook were. I like to cook vegetarian meals occasionally and I get bored with the same Asian and Mexican flavors that seem to be featured in most other vegetarian cookbooks. Some of the recipes in this cookbook call for offbeat ingredients (lime kaffir leaves?) but what's great is that the author suggests a readily available substitute (such as the rind from an ordinary lime). I think you can find the vast majority of ingredients in any well-stocked supermarket. I found a slightly used copy on for $7.50-- a great deal.

• I am not a vegan but I simply love this book! I do, actually, live in the tropics so the ingredients are fresh and readily available. Either way, however, I feel that she does not use extravagant ingredients as I have found in other vegetarian/vegan cookbooks. Even if you do not live in this climate, you can find all of these ingredients in most grocery stores.
  
  The recipes are simple and tasty. I sometimes do change a few of the recipes or add a bit more to them but this is more personal preference than a necessity.
  
  I would recommend this book to anyone who would like to add a bit more spunk to their daily diet. If you like tropical fruit, trying new things and a variety of cuisines..then you will enjoy this book.
• I absolutely love this book. I would rate it 5 stars but I personally think all recipe books should have color pictures throughout.
  
  I love that you can just use fresh produce from your regular supermarket/farmer's market and that you don't have to search around everywhere for exotic ingredients. The recipes are meant to be meatless, a trend I've noticed in most of her books so you don't feel like you're missing a flavor.
  
  Overall an excellent book, mainly Thai recipes but there are many Caribbean, African, Central and South American as well.
• This is a decent cookbook if you want creative, exotic recipes. I'm not sure how authentic they are but I've tried making one so far...Sticky Rice...and it differs a quite bit from another Thai Sticky rice recipe I had. It still tasted really good though. I don't know why but the lack of pictures really bothers me in this book. Some of these recipes seem very uncommon so it wouldn't be easy finding a picture of it online to know how the food should look. Also you can't be inspired as much to make it without the picture.
• This cookbook, as well as Ms. Klein's other books, ought to be required reading for vegetarians. The recipes are simple, quick, and use ingredients that are readily available. Best of all, everything we've tried actually tastes good! Even my non veggie kids like the dishes I've served them.

• This guide is geared towards an older/ conservative demographic Found It a little less useful than the ‘Lonely Planet ‘ guide!
• This was for my nephew for his birthday. His family just bought a house in Costa Rica. He found it to be very helfful.
• I went to Costa Rica over spring break and had this book along with the old Lonely Planet. Had I read this book before going I wouldn't have even taken it. It doesn't have very many cheap options. It seems like it's more useful for people looking for high end hotels and have plenty of money to spend. The book does have plenty of nice pictures, but who needs that when you're IN costa rica.
• If you want a pretty picture book for your trip to Costa Rica, then this is the one. If you want a book that does not offer much useful detail or many helpful travel tips, then this is the book for you. I have been to Costa Rica numerous times. I bought this book because I have not been in a few years and thought it would be helpful to have. Well, it wasn't. I could write a better or at least more useful travel book in a few days. Given that Fodor's does a great job with many of their European books, I was really surprised at how near worthless this book is. Do not purchase this book if you are looking for a Costa Rican travel guide. If all you want is a general overview of the country, then this book will work.

• This is TWO books in ONE, and as Jillian Hart is one of my VERY FAVORITE authors ... I KNEW I HAD TO PURCHASE THIS BOOK ...and am I glad I did!
  
  The first book, "Finally a Family" is actually another McKaslin book ... if you have read either, (or both, as I have) the contemporary, or the historical, McKaslin books previously, you definitely will want to read this book as well. Now, this one is about a two little girls, Prudence and Penelope, that want a mother so very bad that they set out to find a wife for their dad and of course they pick one ... their dad, Sam, has other ideas and that IS NOT WHAT HE WANTS. She, Molly, of course, falls in love with these adorable little girls that definitely find trouble wherever they go, along with the help of their pet cow and her antics ... it, of course, all works out! It is a darling book interspersed with humor which adds to the enjoyment of this book.
  
  The second book is by Victoria Bylin, whom I have not read previously it is called "Home Again". I could feel the heartbreak of this mother, Cassie, as her son was acting out and causing so much trouble that she truly did not know how to help him. She moved back to her amall hometown thinking that this would solve the problem, but of course, his deeper issues followed him. This problem could be true for mothers today, as well as, all those years ago. Her former love, Gabe, who also is the town sheriff, tries to help her with her son. This is so hard for her as she finds she still has feelings for him, which she definitely feels first, that she does not want and then when she acknowledges them to herself she is not sure that she should feel. The town's people are very judgemental, especially one woman that seems to have a lot of influence over the others which adds another element in this book ... all and all this is a very good book and a new author that I will definitely be reading more of.
• This book by Jillian Hart (whose books I've read before) and Victoria Bylin (whose books I now love) was exceptional! I enjoy stories I can relate to or learn from. This book gave me both. The next criterion I have is to laugh and/or cry. I did both in each story!
  
  Therefore, since it met and exceeded my expectations, I heartily review it as 5 stars out of 5. If I could do so, I would give it a 10. If the readers like historical Christian fiction, plus the opportunity to laugh, cry, rejoice and relate to the characters, they cannot go wrong in the purchase of this book! Enjoy! )

• Finally a Family
  his was a sweet novella about the McKaslin family. I've read most of the Love Inspired books, so enjoyed getting another Jillian Hart book. She did such a good job with the language. I loved the words that were used. The two little girls and their pet cow were just the sweetest thing! I felt for the adults - Molly and Sam - and the sadness they had faced in their past. This book had no major disaster in it - just a sweet story about how twin girls and a cow brought together two lonely hearts!
  
  Home Again
  This was just an excellent story about a divorced mother who left her husband after he beat her and threatened to beat their son. Now her son is 12 and becoming a Mama's boy. The local Sheriff, who is also her ex-fiance, wants to show the boy some fatherly love by teaching him how to become a man. But Cassie doesn't agree with some of his methods. Because she left Gabe at the author, she is also shunned by the small town and must find a way to convince them to shop at her store or she won't be able to stay there. Can her newfound love for Gabe and the town survive? Great story about Luke's becoming a man, a great father/son relationship, and I really liked Gabe's devotion to Cassie.
• "Finally a Family" is a novella featuring a woman who lost her husband and then her only child. She goes to live near a relative and is putting her life together. She wonders if she will ever marry again, but one thing for sure, it has to be to a very loving man who loves her genuinely. She meets the doctor in town who has two darling twin girls who are out of hand! He needs a wife! It takes him quite a while to admit it to himself. In the meantime, he is around Molly and begins to like her and wonder if he could ever have a good marriage. Once he decides, he asks her to marry him. But, he never says he loves her! Will they marry? Better read and find out! (I love Jill)
  
  "Home Again", written by Victoria, is the first work of hers that I have read. In this story, Cassie comes back to her hometown after living in the city with a husband and son. After separating from the physically abusive partner, she takes her son back to the little town she remembers to start over. Her first love, is now the sheriff. He still loves her and has never married. He tries to step in and be the father her son really needs. But can she trust love again? Will she ever marry Gabe Wyatt? Read and see!

• Anyone who wants to understand what its like to be considered trash when you could not control what happened to you will find hope from reading this book. Keeps all who read it food for thought.
• Excellent story line. You brought out all the characters well. It is nice to read books without trash in them.
