"This was recommended to me by a peer...and it is an amazing book. You can stop and start reading and really drill down on some key aspects of what you professionally/personally want to work on. It is easy to read...wish I would of had it years ago.

Yes, it absolutely would be a good read for men too.

This is a must for young women graduating college or beginning their professional careers, if you are past that like me you will only wish you had it a bit sooner."

  • This was recommended to me by a peer...and it is an amazing book. You can stop and start reading and really drill down on some key aspects of what you professionally/personally want to work on. It is easy to read...wish I would of had it years ago.

Yes, it absolutely would be a good read for men too.

This is a must for young women graduating college or beginning their professional careers, if you are past that like me you will only wish you had it a bit sooner.
  • Yep, most of us need to hear these things. Some moments made me think we should be calculating. But, I can still be the same loving and giving me that makes God proud without getting used and looked over.
I listened to this on Audible. It's a lot to think about and apply.
  • Some good advice but most of the book tells women to accept the sexist values of the workforce in America by bending over and being everything a man wants you to be. I’m sorry lady but because you put toxic chemicals in your hair because you are grey doesn’t make you a better woman. My mom started her own company and aged gracefully with grey hair and all. This is really a shame to women and some poor advice. This woman sounds like a Christian from Texas who thinks the devil made tattoos. Oi vey. Thanks for making my already stressful job due to sexism feel even less hopeful. I believe in more progress than this book has to offer and honestly the things the men say to women in this book would be considered harassment. “We are some make up” “get rid of the Alison and wonderland look” ... wow.
  • This is one of my bookshelf favorites that I have recommended to my female co-workers and high potential newcomers to the corporate world since its first edition. Recently picked up the revised copy and it still does not disappoint.

Finding that balance between being a credible, trusted business partner and being called an "aggressive b-word" is a challenge, particularly for an alpha female. While I thought I knew a lot, I was often overusing the masculine energy I had thinking that was the way to the boardroom in a male-dominated environment. Incorporating some of the tips I learned in Dr. Frankel's book, I noticed a distinct change in how my male colleagues and superiors dealt with me, all for the better. The revised copy, built for today's workplace, has been my recent nightly reading to reassess where I am now in my career and how I may need to refine myself further as I move up the ladder.
  • It's a shame that this book is set up for woman to avoid prejudice about our behavior from men while being so tainted with the author's prejudice itself. The book exclaims that tattoos make you unprofessional and how much of an uneducated mistake you have made to simply follow a trend. The author justifies their prejudice by bringing in quotes from a university professor on an interaction he had with one tattooed employee where he also justifies his prejudice against everyone with tattoos because of her performance there in less than three months.

I'm sorry but my tattoos were not some result of a drunken night out as this book also exclaims. You do not have to like them but you must understand that I made well educated decisions on where I went and who did the tattoos. Not every shop is trustworthy and clean. I knew long before I did them that they were permanent and you will not make me feel like less of a human because of this. I worked my tail off to succeed in school for the job I have today where thankfully people are not like this author and the professor. Instead everyone cares about the success of others. Not what they look like.
  • I was preparing for some extensive interviewing after some time out of the market and decided to order beforehand. This helped me prepare on many fronts and it was a huge confidence booster. I'm applying a lot within to my day to day work and personal life. So good in fact, I started reading a second time to highlight whatever applies and areas I'll continue to focus on. Also a plus with the format - you can pick-up and read a section or two at a time.
  • This book is great for understanding how you could improve yourself to be taken more seriously. I wouldn't say its the best self-help book for women I have read, but it does have some unique insights and specific tips on how to change your behaviour to get great results.
  • A great book on reminders of how females may be holding themselves back and not getting the advancement they deserve. Just a few tips here could make a different in a woman's (or a man's) career
