Trorm Coldstorm is an orcish foreign exchange student attending college to learn wizardry on a football scholarship. The plan was simple. Play football, learn magic, stay out of trouble. Nothing has gone as planned.

Things are finally turning around for Trorm when Nymal's sister shows up demanding help casting an illegal and dangerous spell that can manipulate time. When both Trorm and Nymal refuse, things go horribly wrong. Now there's a monster on the loose with the ability to shove people backwards in time, reverting them to who they used to be and carrying a deep hatred for Trorm.

And one of Trorm's most trusted allies turns out to have a very dark past...

An Orc at College 2 A Contemporary Sword and Sorcery Harem Fantasy eBook Liam Lawson Reviews

  • From incredibly dangerous magical screwups, to divine intervention against him, and even more dangerous mages out to actively attack him and his friends, Trorm has his work cut out for him.

Luckily, he is becoming more badass in his magic-fu, plus he is picking up unexpected allies that help him keep his head above water when things go sideways. At least he has a kick butt bunnygirl with a bat.

And that's just people trying to murder him- trying to keep straight the relationships he needs to keep his grades up and scholarship running is probably more difficult for the orc than a straight forward battle to the death. Between trying to keep from getting in between the beautiful women in his host family's arguments, Nymal having her own issues with transitioning, and the football team having a rough time now that Arlen screwed them over, Trorm needs all the cunning he can manage to not screw it up.

I enjoyed the book quite a bit, and look forward to the next in the series.

Note I agreed to post an honest review in exchange for an ARC.

Double note (minor spoiler) In case you haven't guessed from the word harem in the title, there are some complicated relationship shenanigans going on. A little slower progression than many harem books, but it is there. This involves several people, including Nymal. If you have a problem with that, you may not like this book.
  • I was impressed. It continued what I was looking for, but took the story in a slightly different direction than I was expecting. The bad guy is actually a sympathetic character and the outcome added to the story rather than being “boss fight #27”.

I’m looking forward to book 3 and where events take the protagonist to. ... and hopefully the choice a character made won’t keep them from being around in the future. <hint hint>
  • Weird transexual part I don't recommend this book unless your into that kinda thing. Seriously why would you do that
  • I gave the previous volume a high recommendation, even bought it after reading it.
    I don't recommend this book.

Characters are still good, with realistic emotions and interactions. But everything else is worse.
The proofreading is inferior, making some sections confusing.
The sex scenes are egregious and have no real purpose.
The plot is insane. Too quick, too disconnected from the characters, and too bonkers in resolution.
The harem set up is ... unstable and not engaging.

I am disappointed. I was looking forward to this story continuing, but now I doubt I will even check out the next volume when it is released.
  • If you enjoyed the first book, you'll probably enjoy this. Several spelling errors. Would be interested in the next book. Enjoyable fantasy story with some creative ideas. Sex scene 3some with male, female, and preop transexual.
  • The main character is portrayed as some giant alpha male but instead spends all his time being everyone’s stomping ground. You would think he would grow some balls by now but nope. For some reason he can’t speak in front of crowds anymore or give a presentation? Seriously? This book feels like the author hates the main character making it extremely painful to read through.

    Excellent second volume. Enjoy!
  • I thoroughly enjoyed this book. There were some minor typos but they weren't common. Less than 15 and they were spelling errors. The story was well done and flowed smoothly. I enjoyed this book immensely.I'm looking forward to the next book.
