love Katelyn The Indelible Mark of a Daughter Her Addiction Illness and Suicide edition by Michelle L Atherton Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews

  • I met Michelle about eight months ago and upon meeting her, I knew that there was something different about her. When I found out later that it was her faith in Christ and the joy and hope that she radiated, I craved that. I don't think she knows this, but her life of faith played a role in my decision to become a Christian in December.
When I learned a few days ago that she had written a book about the journey that she had been through over the last many months, I just knew I had a feeling I had to read it, even though I did not know much about the back story. I saw a lot of Katelyn in myself as I read. As someone who also struggles with mental health, addictions, and previous suicidal thoughts, I felt like I saw part of me in Katelyn, and Katelyn in I. Hearing Michelle's perspective through the entire journey was both incredibly encouraging and emotional. I feel like anyone can benefit reading this book, regardless of what you have walked through or are walking through, because at the end of the day, this book points you back to God, and that is the most important place to find yourself.
Thank you, Michelle, for your bravery in writing these words. I know your story will touch many, many lives!
  • Love, Katelyn is a beautifully written account of every parents' worst nightmare, and sadly, Michelles' reality.
She candidly shares her emotional journey along with excerpts from Katelyns' journal in a way that helps the reader understand and relate, not only to Michelle but to Katelyn as well.
She shares her faith and how God comforted her and gave her strength.
Any parent with a child struggling with an addiction, mental illness, or dealing with the repercussions of their bad decisions would benefit from this book.
Thank you Michelle for sharing your story. Rest in peace Katelyn❤
  • This book touched my heart. It was written with a raw emotion and honesty from the perspective of a loving mother. Michelle takes you on a journey from her childhood, through her teenage years to becoming a mother, raising a family and finally to the loss of her eldest daughter. Michelle shares her grief, her anger, her guilt and her love as a mother, letting her faith carry her through the hardest time in her life and sharing this with the world in hopes that her story might touch someone going through the same. I was touched by her courage, her incredible love and her unwavering faith. Very well written, worth sharing and even reading a second time.
  • Not only a “must read” but a “can’t put down” type of book. With streams of tears down my face, I couldn’t help but know that Katelyn was smiling down on her mother, Michelle, while she wrote this raw and real book about her daughters life and journey through addiction and mental illness. I wanted to reach through the book and hug Michelle through each chapter. You walk through the pain with her but more importantly, you walk through the unconditional love. I couldn’t recommend this enough.
  • I couldn't put this book down. It was hard to read, but was real. It is brutally honest. Michelle has taken her raw emotion and pain and poured into these pages. The result is stunning and beautiful. Yes, even through all the broken pieces that this family has endured, they are taking the pieces and forming a beautiful mosaic of hope. This book will change lives and open some others to erase the stigma of mental illness and addiction. This book is cover to cover full of choices and the resounding theme of a mother's unconditional love. Kudos Michelle and kudos to her hero, Pete; may this family move forward and begin to heal.
  • This was such an emotional story to read not only because I know the family is real but also because the “troubles” of this life are too. As I finished the book it reminded me of a song lyric that says “To tell you my story is to tell of Him” which Michelle did amazingly. She told Katelyn’s story and God’s love together.
  • A heartbreaking, honest account of what life was like watching a child who struggled with mental illness and addiction which ultimately led to the death by suicide. My heart goes out to Michelle, Pete and their family. It is so difficult to decide when to practice tough vs. feeling like you are enabling behavior that not beneficial to anyone involved. I myself have a child who has struggled with mental illness and contemplated suicide. This truly hit close to home for me. I am so grateful that Michelle chose to share her and Katelyn’s story. So brave and selfless. A must read for anyone who suffers with mental illness and addiction and for those who love them too. You are never alone. Thank you Michelle.
  • Beautiful, touching and heartfelt! Thank you Michelle for sharing Katelyn's story and may it reach others who are suffering.
